Watercolor trials

>> Wednesday, August 27, 2008

The above one finished with stunted trees. Not that great attempt and could have been better!!
This one I learned from a you tube video but I did not do it while the video was playing so a lot of it is my imagination. Plus the video was not very clear so there was no color distinction
This is yet in complete and am doing it from a tutorial by kathy johnson. But if you see the real picture it has clearer colors. Also the tutorial picture is amazing!!!
this is no where near to it but in itself it is a good try. I learnt something about slowly building up I usually stumble in mid tones!!!
more paintings !!!
what have i been doing all these days when not posting!!!
the answer is here. Well again these are trials so please forgive stunted trees in one on the paintings.

Getting late?

>> Tuesday, August 26, 2008

I have come to another theory. Ofcourse anybody with common sense must have deduced it already but this is for people who have not been in this predicament, I am offering a solution right off the bat. No need to analyze it then!!!
This applies to people who are driving themselves to work and not depending on others (public transport or drivers) to take them to work. In case that is the story then you need to skip to a * mark and and read the suggestion.

So if you have the convenience go really late rather than moderately late. This I say because if you are moderately late, you share road space with people like you, or people who are supposed to come this late. The first category people will be really harsh on everybody around , will be really rough and all. The second category people will be so lazy that you will feel that you are a part of that "slowest one winner" race and they frustrate you beyond any limits you might know.

Incase you are exceptionally late atleast you will avoid these "kaam dhandha(working people)"

* If you are being driven by public transport I have only one word-- ENJOY
If you being driven by a driver-- LET HIM EARN HIS PAY
in the above two cases go at the time you are ready!!!

Why is it?

>> Monday, August 25, 2008

We all have these moments of wondering why...
so i am beginning my "Why is it list..."

  1. Just the day you are not well and not in office is that your super boss wants to meet you?
  2. Just when you are about to cross a relatively empty road, is when a barge of traffic starts to pour in ?
  3. Just when you think you have finished cleaning is when someone will come and make footprints on the floor or some insect will come out to inspect the cleanliness making you swat it on that clean floor?
  4. Just when you want to check an important mail the internet connection conks out on you!!
I am sure there are many more in my memory and many around in other people's memories but we in listing and remembering these we forget the times when things have worked out for us at the 9th moment. Inessence, we assume that things should work out for us and in that assumption we do not really remember those things which actually worked out without a hitch!!!

Sound effects!!!

>> Monday, August 18, 2008

I think we never truly and really appreciate the sound effects and its importance in most of the things in life expect for a music concert.
I am talking about all the films that are made. Apart from the visuals the sounds are equally important to create that atmosphere/experience. You will truly appreciate this exercise if you try and watch a horror movie with a sounds muted. It will guaranteed not deliver the blows. Similarly any drama movie without the harmonious sounds to depict the typical dilemma etc are vital for a viewer.
Even in the romantic comedies, it is the background music that seals the moment. If used appropriately it is as important to creating an atmosphere as lets say the whole filming process.
At times i feel that a wrong selection takes so much away from a moment in the film that it is then that you really begin to realise the importance of Sound effects.

Perspective Problem

When you see the pictures of the ghats that I have posted, you will see a picture of water fall ending in rocks that I have taken from the top/above rather than from the bottom of the falls where people usually take it from. I was wondering how one can accomplish drawing the waterfall from the top view instead of the bottom view. I mean mostly all pictures are taken from bottom to top and a lot of paintings on this subject also show the similar view. But how do we go about depicting the opposite view on a paper is what is boggling me these days.!! If you have got any ideas please share...

Visiting Malshej

I know its been long since I have written so sorry for being lazy. I have to post a painting picture and some pictures to this place- malshej.
It is just about 130 kms from pune. The directions are hard to find online but it is easy to find in real life. From Pune you go to Nasik phata then Narayangaon and then take a left from Aliphata. Then all you do is keep going straight towards mumbai/kalyan. There are ghats on the way and theya re the malshej ghats. It is not a particular place but these ghats. There are two hotels one is an MTDC one and another is sushant. They have food available and also changing place for people who do not have reservations.
The place is beautiful. It has waterfalls and fog/clouds that keep changing their direction. The whole place around is lush green. It is just beautiful and cool.
Be ready tog et wet if you really want to enjoy.
Uploading a few pictures of the place.
The whole journey to this place is beautiful and enjoyable.

Panchgani

>> Monday, August 4, 2008

The way I describe panchgani would be "Landscapes waiting to be painted". It is such abeautiful place very close to where I live. More so in the monsoon.
There are more pictures with better colors that showcase the place a little better. (they will be uploaded sometime later. got to get the pics here.!!!)
It is a small place nestled in the hills. The views are spectacular and my photographic talents did not do justice to the landscape. But still here I present some of the pictures to give you a flavor or sense of the place.
I loved this umbrella. Kind of reminded me of the Victorian times. (no I don't own it but the girl was very astonished with my praise for her umbrella and let me pose with it)

(This is one of the plenty pathways that you see in the place. There are better ways to capture this I am sure.)

The following is the typical hill house. Now these are fast receding and giving way to the modern day houses but this still has those glass windows, beautiful red colors and such.
