From my water color Lessons

>> Monday, April 28, 2008

These are not copied but from my watercolor class. Again I have watched the artist actually make these and it always feels like magic to me. When they begin, I wonder how this mess can be transformed into beauty. By the time they finish, I am convinced that it is a thing of beauty and all the earlier strokes have added into its actual beauty. Though what I find tough to follow is the final touch ups they do. It is that final stage that transforms it completely.

Hibiscus

This is the first real floral I tried. I have copied it from an online depiction and this turned out to be a lot more crooked than the one I looked at, but from a distance it looks perfect!!!(all of the paintings do, one just needs to find that perfect distance hehe).

i absolutely love these flowers. I had brought this plant for about 9 months now. but due to insifficient sunlight it decided to grow and not bloom. When once it actually showed something similar to a bloom, it became infested with worms so I was back to waiting for a bud. Heavens have answered this wait and right now I can see a bud maturing. Hoping it will flower well this time around. I know I have waited long enough for it.

"Adapted efforts"

These are a few pictures that I liked immensely and try to do them form a watercolor picture. I have imitated/copied someone else work but it was solely for the purpose of learning the techinque.

I have not done complete justice to the compositions but please forgive me for that.

It is tilted a bit. But i cannot take any credit for the composition and the color slection but it helped me to actually depict a glass and reflections in a watercolor.

Uploading pictures

I am finally here with my watercolor journey. It is interuppted in the sense not all have been scanned but the few that have been are here.
Some have been copied to learn techniques but please excuse me for that. It is solely for the purpose of learning not to take the credit away. Also I have not been able to do full justice to them as well. It is just that I liked them much too much.
These were a few earlier ones. Just most of them were self taught efforts to copy images from a book.

Cricket

I was away for vacation and that is why nothing has been posted. I have managed to scan more pictures which I will upload in a short while. They will be in jumbled order (I was hoping that I could have uploaded them in the order that they were painted so that people would be able to actually see if there was any improvement but then I am not sure I will be able to do that.

My house has been gripped by cricket fever. Every evening, the TV automatically switches on to the sports channel and then hypnotizes my husband to itself. In between the muted advertisements I get t chat about my day which ofcourse has to be interrupted if the commercial has ended and you are again hypnotized to the screen. It is rumoured to continue for the next 40 days. I am scared to contacting the same affliction Help!!!

Ferris Wheel

>> Thursday, April 3, 2008

This painting is done from a newspaper photo. The colors of the sky interested me particularly.

I have always been scared of sitting on one of these ever since I was a child. Especially when the wheel stops and you are at the topmost tip of the wheel and the wind gently rocks your bucket...

It gives me the jitters!!!
The colors are looking a little bit more dull than real life.
Suggestions are most welcome.
